Dick Buckles specializes in applying innovative concepts in leadership planning and development, organization effectiveness, business management and human resources strategies to help organizations achieve consistently superior performance and enhance their capability to create value for shareholders, customers, and employees.
Prior to joining Wolf Management Consultants, Dick held responsible senior management positions as Vice President, Organizational Development, WellPoint Health Networks, Inc.; Chief Learning Officer, Edison International; Progress Director, Amoco Corp.; Manager, Human Resources Development, Atlantic Richfield Company; Director, Organizational Development and Training, Beatrice Companies, Inc.; and Manager, Management Development, Hughes Aircraft Co.
With over 30 years experience in private industry, consulting, and education, Dick is a specialist in organization change strategies, learning systems design and executive development and succession processes. He was one of the architects of a global organization and culture change strategy for Amoco Corporation and the creator of Edison International’s Corporate University and Employee Learning Center. He has broad consulting experience designing and implementing Succession Management, Leadership Planning and Executive Development systems, measurement technologies, including 360 assessment, executive selection, feedback, coaching and employee and customer satisfaction surveys.
A frequent speaker at major conferences, he has spoken on such topics as Return On Quality, Customer-Driven Change, The Balanced Scorecard, Performance Management, Shared Services, and Leadership Planning and Development. He also conducts workshops and seminars on such topics as Building Enterprise Capabilities, Targeted Change, Organization and Management Transitions, and Building the Next Generation of Leaders.
He has published extensively, including articles for the National Productivity Review ("Measuring Customer Satisfaction"), The American Management Association-Management Review ("Technical Career Development"), and is the co-author of Human Resources Management and Organization Effectiveness in The Handbook of Human Resources Management.
Dick has a BA and MA in Experimental Psychology from California State University, Los Angeles and an MA and Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from California Western University. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Academy of Management, The Society for Human Resources Management, The Human Resources Planning Society, The Professional Coaches and Mentors Association, and The World Futures Society. He is also a former member of the Board of Examiners for the Illinois Foundation for Business Excellence and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Management Studies. He was an Ass’t. Prof. of Management at the Graduate School, University of LaVerne, where he taught Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management, and various courses in Psychology and an adjunct Lecturer in Psychology at California State University, Los Angeles, where he taught Organizational Development, Psychology, and other courses.
