Ms. Hirsch is a recognized expert in the field of career psychology. She founded Arlene S. Hirsch & Associates, a Chicago-based career and psychological counseling firm, in 1983 and joined Wolf Management Consultants in 2003.
Her areas of expertise include: career planning, career management, career transition, emotional intelligence, resilience, leadership development, and job search.
She is the author of three best-selling career books, How to be Happy at Work, Love Your Work and Success Will Follow, Wall Street Journal Premier Guide to Interviewing. Her workbook, VGM's Careers Checklists, was rated "highly recommended" by the National Vocational Guidance Association. She is currently working on a new book, titled: Shooting Yourself in the Foot: How to Stop Sabotaging Your Career Success
Arlene's corporate clients include: Ameritech, AT&T, Baxter Healthcare, Citicorps, CNA, First National Bank, Harris Bank, State Farm, Travelers Insurance, and V. Mueller. Her government experience includes projects and programs with the FBI, Federal Reserve Bank, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and U.S. Postal Service. She has also worked with many colleges and universities, including: DePaul University, Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, Loyola University, Northwestern University, and the University of Chicago.
She has made numerous television and radio appearances as an expert on career and workplace issues, including ABC, CNBC, WBEZ, WGN and Lifetime Medical Television. She has been widely quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The Chicago Tribune, Glamour and Elle magazine, among others. A popular guest speaker, Ms Hirsch has delivered presentations to the American Bar Association, American Medical Association, CABLE, International Association of Career Management Professionals, Society of Women Engineers, Women in Communications and many more organizations.
Arlene received her Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University and her Bachelors degree in English and Secondary Education from the University of Iowa.
